How to apply to our research courses
We want to make applying for our postgraduate research degrees as simple and straightforward as possible.
Your first step is to decide what type of research degree is right for you. Typically, there are two options to consider:
- An advertised PhD is part of an established research project and is usually funded by the University or another funding body.
- If you want to pursue your own research project, you can apply to our research programmes to propose this. This is self-funded although scholarships are available.

How much does it cost?
The University charges an annual tuition fee which covers the cost of your tuition, supervision, assessment and membership to the Guild of Students. Tuition fees are payable at the start of your programme of study and at the beginning of each subsequent academic year.
