Curriculum and Approaches for Autistic Children and Young People
This module aims to develop awareness of the educational and other approaches used with autistic children and young people (CYP), to examine their effectiveness and to examine issues of curriculum entitlement and access.
This module will give you 20 credits at Postgraduate Masters Level/Level 7.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the module, you will be able to:
- have ways of assessing, evaluating and recording the development of autistic CYP and evaluating practice
- critically examine a variety of educational approaches in relation to CYP on the autism spectrum
- examine ways of developing language, communication, and social and emotional understanding in CYP on the autism spectrum
Assessment
You will be assessed through a range of work, enabling you to demonstrate your knowledge, skills and understanding of the theory and practical application of the module material.
You will have one specific formative assessment (where you receive informal feedback, but it does not count towards your module grade) and two components of summative assessment (which are each graded).
