This course consists of 180 credits distributed over 1 year. One third of the content consists of taught modules. Two thirds of the content is the individual research project, which is carried out in the summer.
When you arrive, you'll be paired with a personal supervisor. You'll deepen your academic foundation through relevant taught modules while beginning research for your MRes Ddssertation. All examinations will take place during the May/June examinations period.
Blend theory and practice to explore topics from materials modelling to surface engineering. We work closely with industrial partners, and you can experience the real-world potential of discoveries. Build your research skills with a major project in the University or in collaboration with a company. You can choose to have us provide the research supervisor and arrange facilities and resources. Or carry out your research project in an industrial research laboratory with both academic and industrial supervisors. You can choose this option if you’re seconded from industry.
Start the course at any time if you have an appropriate technical background (a Materials Science first degree).

This course consists of 180 credits distributed over 1 year. Two thirds of the content (120 credits) is comprised of major research project. One third of the content (60 credits) is made up of six taught modules, which are taken intermittently throughout the year.
