Award Description
The University of Birmingham is pleased to announce a number of scholarships of £6,000 for select students in Taiwan, Japan and South Korea. These scholarship awards are forstudents applying for entry to a postgraduate programme at the University starting September 2025.
These are joint awards with our local representatives who are listed below in alphabetical order.
The scholarships will be awarded based on academic merit and a university of Birmingham interview to the highest performing students starting their University of Birmingham programme in the 2025/2026 academic year.
Please note that the scholarship cannot be combined with external government awards.
Value of Award
The scholarship is 13 x £6,000 towards tuition fees of a full-time postgraduate degree programme (excluding Business School) at the University of Birmingham UK campus, starting September 2025.
Eligibility Criteria
Students applying to our Business School programmes are not eligible for this scholarship. Please note that Business School applicants can apply for scholarships offered by the Birmingham Business School.
Please note that distance-learning, MPhil, MRes and PhD programmes are not eligible for this award.
Please note that students already registered and studying on a programme at the University of Birmingham in the UK are not eligible for this scholarship.
In order to be eligible, candidates must:
- Have received an offer and selected the University of Birmingham as their firm choice for a full-time postgraduate programme starting September 2025. The student must be entering 2025 the postgraduate programme based at Birmingham’s UK campus.
- Meet the academic conditions of their offer to the programme.
- Be classed as domiciled in one of the following countries: Taiwan, Japan or South Korea.
- Be classed by the University as an overseas fee payer for tuition fee purposes and have sufficient funds to cover the remaining tuition fee.
- Have sufficient funds to cover the full cost of living at the University of Birmingham, plus any visa/travel expenses associated with studying in the UK.
- Start their studies at the University in September 2025 (the scholarship award may not be deferred).
- Be registered with, and have their postgraduate study application attached to, one of our local representatives listed below in alphabetical order.
- Submit your scholarship application through one of our local representatives by the deadline; 27 April 2025.
- Upon enrolment in September 2025, pay their net tuition fees for the first year by 1 November, immediately following enrolment.
How to Apply
To apply for this scholarship, students need to apply to the university through our local representative and accept the offer. The closing date for consideration is 27th April. We will announce the interview shortlist on 5th May, conduct interviews by 9th May, and inform the results on 12th May. (The University of Birmingham reserves the right to change any of these dates and process.)
