Award Description

The Altajir Trust is a UK-based charity supporting exhibitions, publications, educational activities and other programmes related to Islamic culture and Muslim-Christian relations.

Value of Award

The Trust provides a limited number of scholarships. Due to a limited amount of funds, sometimes it may be possible to provide only partial funding.

The scholarships can however cover fees and a monthly maintenance allowance.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students should normally hold a good first degree

  • They must be fluent in English and able to benefit from study in the United Kingdom

  • They should normally be of Arab nationality, be resident in an Arab country and not hold British residency

  • They should be able to demonstrate that the chosen course of study is of clear benefit to their home country or the wider Arab world and that they intend to return to their home country or another Arab country after the completion of their studies

  • There is no age limit but priority is given to those aged under 35

  • Scholars are expected to apply directly to a British university of their choice and to be able to provide a copy of that university's acceptance; they should also be able to secure through the British Council a visa or permission to enter the United Kingdom for the purposes of study

How to Apply

Please note that the Trust is not currently accepting new applications.

The trustees meet about four times a year. Applications may be submitted at any time but may have to await the next Trustees' meeting for a decision.

The application form, as well as the full details of application process, can be found on the Altajir Trust website.
