Do you write songs, poetry or creative prose but haven't yet found a platform for your work? Maybe you used to perform but found the demands of daily life inhibited your creative journey? Are you ready to find or share your artistic voice?
Musician Julianne Oc is leading a series of exciting workshops at the Museum to platform the voices of creative women who resonate with its core theme of feeling unheard and/or unseen.
These workshops will provide an exciting and supportive space in which the voices of women who have experienced feelings of ‘invisibility’ can be heard, valued and celebrated through creative practice. Using flexible modes of music, song, poetry and/or spoken word, participants will have the opportunity to take an artistic journey through the creation and performance of their own original works.
The Lapworth Museum of Geology provides a creative setting for the project, allowing participants to become inspired by the Museum's geological and historical collections and archives. A visit to Winterbourne House and Garden will invite further inspiration. Group discussions and sharing will be facilitated, whilst providing a supportive platform for the artistic journeys and expressions of participants.
Workshops will take place over 7 weeks in April/May 2025 and conclude with a community performance showcasing pieces created during the sessions.
Musical backing and lunch is provided in the sessions.
