Honey: Food and Drug

Natural honey is mostly used as a food sweetener, but there is emerging evidence that it can be used to tackle the problem of antimicrobial resistance.
This masterclass will cover the chemical composition, physical, chemical and antibacterial properties of natural honey. The masterclass will end with novel formulations involving natural honey with applications in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
Who can attend this masterclass?
This event is open to Year 12 and 13 students and is delivered by our School of Chemical Engineering. We recommend that attending students are studying A Level Mathematics as well as Chemistry or Physics. Explore the rest of our masterclasses for more fun learning opportunities.
