Visit the Ironbridge Institute for the Ironbridge Lecture 2011. Speaker Professor Carl Chinn MBE Phd is a social historian, author, newspaper columnist, broadcaster, public speaker and campaigner for social justice.

Professor of Community History at the University of Birmingham , he is the author of 29 books that focus on the history of Birmingham, the Black Country , and urban working class life in England between 1850 and 1960. He is well-known for his weekly local history articles in the Birmingham Mail and Express and Star, for his weekly local history show on BBC WM, and for his monthly Brummagen Magazine

Carl is a passionate and proud Brummie and West Midlander and is a dedicated supporter of local charities, good causes, manufacturing, and the rights of working-class people.
