Global perspectives of resilient cities, organisations and people

A University of Birmingham Research Conference 2018 Session

This session, delivered by theme leads of the Institute for Global Innovation, will consider what ‘resilience’ means in the context of cities in low and middle income countries: what are the ‘shocks’ that are important to a city (at different scales, of the individual, community, city etc); what are the adaptation and contingency plans for dealing with these shocks; and what are those plans designed to do?

Project partners in Africa, India and Mexico will be visiting the university and give their perspectives.

We will present an interdisciplinary approach being taken by the Resilient Cities theme of the Institute for Global Innovation, to help us understand the complexities of the city system and how that relates to the experiences of the population.
