Film-screening and talk in partnership with the National Trust
The revolutionary, documentary-style film, 'Cathy Come Home' directed by Ken Loach, arguably played a major part in social housing reform, shocking the nation as it candidly addressed issues of homelessness, unemployment and poverty in post-war, inner-city Britain. This screening of the groundbreaking 1966 BBC television play- parts of which were filmed in Birmingham- is followed by a talk from the film's producer, Tony Garnett, with Dr. Chris Upton (Newman University College), and is introduced by Professor Ian Grovesnor (Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor for Cultural Engagement and Professor of Urban Educational History, University of Birmingham).
Cost: £7, Booking Essential.
Refreshments will be served during the interval. Delegates can also enjoy a special lunch offer at Winterbourne House and Gardens immediately before this event between 12pm and 1pm. Please take your ticket with you.
