David will explore disability-inclusive approaches to disaster recovery drawing on his research on Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. He will examine the impact of this disaster on disabled individuals and their participation in recovery and community rebuilding processes. In line with this year’s Disability History Month theme, the talk will focus on children and young people’s experiences, offering valuable lessons for those interested in disability and international development. He will also discuss the second edition of his textbookDisability and International Development: A Guide for Students and Practitioners which was published by Routledge earlier this year.

Dr. Cobley is a Lecturer in Disability and Development and Director of Education. David’s main teaching and research interests lie within the field of disability and international development.
