Neurodivergence in HE: a pedagogic toolkit (WIP)

People with ADHD, Autism, and other neurodivergent experiences can and do have successful careers as researchers within HE. However, most support is geared towards undergraduate years, representing a ‘cliff edge’ at independent research level.

We are a group of scholars working across three West Midlands universities (The University of Birmingham, Birmingham City University, and The University of Warwick), to use our combined personal experiences of neurodiversity and pedagogic expertise to put together a pedagogic toolkit. This toolkit will focus on effective ways that you can support research colleagues who are neurodiverse at any stage of their career. This workshop presents our work so far, with myth-busting, facts, and pedagogic tools to take away. We welcome scholars who are allistic and neurodiverse to join us to explore best practices and their experiences in this safe, open, inclusive space.
