The Stuart Hall Project is a meditation on the life, politics and work of the renowned intellectual Stuart Hall by the acclaimed director John Akomfrah. Hall was an integral figure n the establishment and development of the Birmingham Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies, the institutional origin of what is now the international discipline of cultural studies.
The film will be introduced by Dr Kieran Connell, who is working on the history of the Centre, and will be followed by a brief discussion.
This event is presented by the Centre for Modern British Studies as part of Arts & Science Festival 2014, a week-long celebration of ideas, research and collaboration across campus. For details of the full programme, visit: www.birmingham.ac.uk/artsandsciencefestival.
