In the last decade, the University of Birmingham have made substantial progress in the quality, ambition, and impact of our research. We will build on this platform as we continue to increase the delivery of Research that Matters: research with outcomes that are important to other people, organisations, and academic fields, and are widely disseminated to achieve lasting, transformative impact in the world.

COP28 engagement and impact report

In 2023, the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) took place at Expo City Dubai. A total of almost 86,000 participants attended the conference, making it comfortably the largest COP in history. Our COP28 engagement and impact report highlights the programme of activity we hosted - showcasing the tremendous research we are leading to help tackle the climate crisis.

Dr Rasha Bayoumi, Head of Research at the University of Birmingham Dubai, has been appointed co-chair of the UAE Universities Climate Network (UCN). In this role, she will lead efforts to advance climate action regionally and internationally, while promoting sustainability across the UAE’s academic sector.
