Old Joe magazine
Read the latest edition of Old Joe, the official magazine for Birmingham's alumni and friends.
Did you know campus has its own collection of ghost stories? From a wartime nurse in Aston Webb to the Business School's grey lady, and even a Roman centurion in Biosciences' basement, there are many tales of spirits haunting campus.
Molly Schiller (MSc Biochemistry, 2021) made national headlines when she explained on Twitter the touching motivation behind her Masters research; saving others from the heart condition that her little brother died from.
Meet three students and alumni who are at the forefront of the University sports community and looking forward to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games; a once in a generation opportunity to showcase the brilliance of the city and region.
Also in this edition, read about the new city centre hub open to everyone and support available for entrepreneurs with a great business idea. You can also meet the researcher whose work on Victorian literature has been recognised by BBC Radio 3.
Plus, we bring you all your favourite regular features: campus romances, competitions, student friendships and stories of fellow alumni, ranging from the young leader helping businesses bounce back, to the graduate supporting students in recovery from addiction, and much, much more.
