Impacts of Volunteering

Thank you to all of our alumni and friends who volunteer their time to support a variety of life changing projects. From taking time to offer careers guidance to students to hosting alumni events and fundraising for research projects, our volunteers really are making important things happen.

  • In 2015, we closed the University's Circles of Influence campaign, which was supported by more than 5,000 volunteers
  • Each year our volunteers donate more than 10,000 hours to a wide range of University of Birmingham projects
  • During the last five years, more than 1,000 volunteers have mentored a Birmingham student through the University wide Careers Network mentoring scheme
  • Through mentoring, delivering inspiring career lectures and offering internships and work placements, our volunteers have positively contributed to the Careers Network support at Birmingham. The University of Birmingham was named University of the year for graduate employment in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2015-16
