On Thursday 18 October the Vice Chancellor, Sir Professor David Eastwood, hosted an alumni reception in New York. We were delighted to welcome over 70 alumni, donors, volunteers and friends for lively conversation and networking at Upper Story, New York.
Attendees heard a welcome speech from the Vice Chancellor, who spoke about campus developments, the University’s achievements on a global stage, and our research links with the US. He also thanked our US donors and volunteers for their generous support.
Attendees enjoyed drinks and canapes, and made the most of the networking opportunities. Attendees travelled from as far as California and Chicago to be at the event.
Alumni were invited to join a tour of the United Nations the following day. Attendees had a great talk from alumnus Barnaby Jones (1994 MSc Development Administration), Executive Officer UN OCHA, followed by a fascinating guided tour of UN.
We then welcomed over 25 Birmingham alumni at a local pub for Friday night drinks.
