My name is Mai Nguyen. I'm originally from Vietnam. I'm currently doing the Master of Pharmaceutical Enterprise at the Medical School at the University of Birmingham.
I'm doing Master Pharmaceutical Enterprise and my course is very interesting because first of all we learned about our drug discovery, so we learned quite a lot like how the people discover about a drug and then how it's moved onto different space into clinical trial, and how the drug gets into the market and then after that when you get all the knowledge about a basis side we move onto the business side.
So we learn a lot about the law, about the regulatory, about FDA, about how to set a company in pharmaceutical field. So all my course is very interesting.
The course is very well organised. I had the lecture with a lot of experts from outside the University, and it makes us feel very special about our course because we get their experience. They share experience with us so we know quite a lot not only from the University but also they bring the real. Work close to us. It makes the lecture very interesting.
We have a lot of group work as well so we learn how to work in a team, and also we have the consultancy groups so it's kind of like very real experience for us. So we present our work to the pharmaceutical company.
So I'm volunteering at a lab under the supervision of a professor to look at the SDS activity of inflammatory mice and the cell wide. I'm really enjoying doing the extra work at a lab because I learn a lot of lab experience as well as the skill which helps me a lot with my future career.
I chose the University of Birmingham because I got the scholarship - the international scholarship from the University as well as the scholarship from the Dean of the Faculty of Medical School. Beside that I really like the University of Birmingham because they do provide the course that I like, the pharmaceutical science which is very special and very new course that the University of Birmingham provide but not other universities.
I think the Masters in Science is very helpful for any pupil who looking to enhance their experience, enhance their education, and it's just to give you one extra year to study but it gives you a lot of knowledge, a lot of experience, as well as the University of Birmingham where you meet a lot of expert people.
And also I think for being a postgraduate student I think it's a very, very special thing for you because you meet a lot of friends, academic and also academic professors who are going to like be the guide for you like for future career.
My favourite thing is about the campus because it's a very nice campus. I feel that everyone quite close to each other, because I think it's because of the environment of the University. In general it has been an amazing year for me to study at the University of Birmingham in professionally and also socially. In general I really like it here at the University of Birmingham.
