A number of the IBSA World Games sports will be taking place at the University of Birmingham, using our world-class sports facilities.
We will be hosting five of the ten sports:
Cricket, Powerlifting, Goalball, Tennis and Ten Pin Bowling will take place at venues across the West Midlands

Exhibition Village
This will offer spectators an opportunity to browse the stands of organisations and companies involved in research or providing services to blind and VI people. Next to the area, will be a ‘Have a go’ zone for different sports during the Games.
“Have a go” Activation Area
British Blind Sport (BBS) is delighted to announce that we will be hosting an Activation Zone at the IBSA World Games which is taking place from 17 - 27 August. The Activation Zone will be running across the middle of this international event, from 21-25 August, offering participants free taster sports sessions in partnership with NGBs.
The Activation Zone will be open Monday to Friday 11:00 to 14:00 at Chancellor’s Court, University of Birmingham, B15 2TT. The event will feature a fantastic line-up of sporting activity taster sessions for blind and partially sighted people of all ages and abilities to participate in and learn more about the opportunities available to them in their local areas. In addition, family and friends along with any spectator of the Games, can join in the fun to learn and appreciate how sport is adapted for people with sight loss. Confirmed activities include judo, tennis, blind football, goalball, archery and more.
Athletes’ Village
We are proud to provide IBSA’s first Games village - a base where up to 1,947 competitors can stay, socialise and dine during the Games, and make memories to last a lifetime.
The Athletes' Village will be based at the Vale, in Shackleton, Mason, Chamberlain and Elgar Court, just as it was at the hugely successful Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
- Bedrooms are single occupancy and ensuite.
- Olympic-style restaurant serving tasty, nutritious meals from 06:00 – 22:00
- The Games Village is a 20-minute walk to main UoB sports venues
Athletes are being encouraged to walk about campus. Shuttle buses will be provided between the Athletes’ Village and competition venues for accredited individuals
