Why did you apply to the University of Birmingham?
I applied to the University of Birmingham as Birmingham is at the centre of British industry and the UK is a leader in world engineering technology. The university has quality education and well-known professors, which helps me become a good engineer.
What are the best points of your course?
The course focuses a lot on practical studies, by incorporating real engineering designs, to help students gain a bigger picture of how engineering supports the world.
What’s the best thing about studying at the University of Birmingham?
The best thing about studying at the University of Birmingham is that you can enjoy the latest technologies in industry as well as being in a multi-culture city.
What's the highlight of your time here so far?
My highlight so far would be the competition held in the first year by the Department of Engineering. This helped me understand the meaning of engineering functions as well as the application of them and allowed me to put my personal thoughts into the design - and I got the first prize!
What advice would you give to other international students?
Never be shy of asking for help. All the staff here are friendly and professional and will help you with problems you might come across. Also, university life is also a very good time for you to develop your network for the future. Be confident to express yourself.
What do you like most about the city?
It must be the convenience of transport within the city. As the heart of railway industry, Birmingham is one of the cities who has inner-city railway system. By travelling on trains, you can easily get to the places that you like. It is also notable that our university has its own station.
How do you feel you have benefitted from the experience of studying in the UK?
The experience of studying in the UK has helped me expand my vision of the world. I have made a lot of friends from different countries and also living in a country which is far away from my home country, I have become more capable of solving problems and think about things more responsibly, which I am pretty sure will help me in the future.
