The University of Birmingham is excited to host the 5th LGBT+ STEMinar, an annual research conference celebrating the work of STEM researchers who identify as LGBTQ+, on 10 January 2020.
This one-day research conference is an annual celebration of the work of STEM* scientists who identify as LGBT+. The aims of the conference are to:
- Increase the visibility and profile of LGBT+ STEM scientists
- Showcase the exciting scientific research being undertaken by those within the LGBT+ community
- Provide development and networking opportunities for early career LGBT+ scientists.
The event is open to all including those who may not identify as LGBT+ but wish to discover and support the work of their LGBT+ colleagues.
The conference will consist of a series of scientific research talks, a poster presentation session, professional development workshops, and lots of opportunities for networking.
The event is free to register and attend due to the generous sponsorship of a number of organisations. With a venue that holds over double the participants as last year, we hope for this to be the biggest LGBT STEMinar yet! Registration will open on 1 August 2019. Please register quickly to attend, due to high demand. We will operate a waiting list once capacity is reached.
This conference first started at the University of Sheffield in 2016 and has been part of the LGBT STEM project.
