Year Two
This module aims to prepare students for clinical practice within the field of neuromusculoskeletal dysfunctions of the upper quadrant, the upper quadrant incorporating cervical and thoracic spine, scapular, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand regions. A student-centred approach will be emphasised through the use of case-based or patient scenario-based learning, utilising the principles of evidence-based practice. This aims to encourage students to integrate and apply information covered in the pre-requisite modules to patient-based scenarios thus enhancing student ability to construct a clinically relevant knowledge base. Practical sessions will involve acquisition and application of assessment and treatment skills for musculoskeletal dysfunction of the upper quadrant allowing further development of student clinical reasoning ability. The arthrogenic /myogenic /neurogenic divisions will be used as a way of integrating approaches to reasoning and management.
