Undergraduate campus tours
Take a campus tour to get that Birmingham feeling
We know it’s important that you get a chance to visit your future university. The best way to do that is to visit one of our open days throughout the year where you'll have the opportunity to look around, speak to current students and staff about the courses that you're interested in, and get an idea of what life on campus could look like for you.
Booking a campus tour
If you can't make it along to a full open day, then a campus tour is an alternative way to explore our beautiful campus and get that Birmingham feeling.
Campus tours for visitors interested in undergraduate study take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11.00am and 2.00pm. The walking tours are led by an undergraduate student currently studying at the University. Places are limited on each campus tour so it is advisable to book well in advance, particularly during school holidays. Tours are designed to give a general overview of the campus and last approximately 45 minutes. Campus tour dates are updated regularly so check back if the month you want isn’t listed. They're not subject-specific but our ambassadors are experienced in handling questions about life on campus and studying at the University more broadly.
Your booking confirmation
Once you've booked your tour, you'll receive a confirmation email with the meeting point and further information. In the event that you're no longer able to attend, please do let us know as soon as possible so that your place can be made available to other visitors. If you do not receive your confirmation, please email studentrecruitment@contacts.bham.ac.uk
Travel information
Please familiarise yourself with our latest information about the best ways to travel to the University. We have our own train station at the University (‘University' station) which is around 7 minutes from Birmingham New Street. If you are driving to the University, then there are pay and display car parks that you can use. We recommend the North East Car Park (postcode B15 2SA).
Subject information
We offer a range of subjects at the University so the student ambassador leading your tour is unlikely to be studying your course of interest, however all of ambassadors have extensive experience of student life at the University. There are lots of other ambassadors available online for you to talk to about our programmes.
Viewing accommodation
The best way to see what accommodation is on offer at Birmingham is to use the 360 tours available on the accommodation section of our website.
Exploring our city
Whether you know Birmingham like the back of your hand or you’ve not yet had the chance to visit, there’s always something new to explore in our city. Birmingham is more than just the Bullring; from galleries, symphony orchestras, and museums, to festivals, a thriving nightlife scene and incredible food, you’ll always have something fresh to discover. If you get the chance to explore our city before or after your event then we’d recommend taking it, and you can speak to our staff and students about the best places to explore.
Individual visits and self-guided campus tours
Unfortunately, we are unable to arrange individual visits. If you cannot make one of our scheduled campus tours or if a particular date is fully booked or unavailable, you are welcome to have a look round independently and can visit campus any day between 9.00am and 4.00pm. We also have a virtual tour of our campus available online, giving you the chance to look around some of the spaces you'd experience as a student here. We are continually adding new buildings and information to the tour so why not take the time to explore.
Visitors with mobility issues or wheelchair users
If you, or anyone accompanying you, have mobility issues or any special requirements then please email studentrecruitment@contacts.bham.ac.uk in advance of your visit to allow us to make your visit as easy as possible. You can view our Mobility Map here.
Campus tour cancellation policy
In rare circumstances beyond our control we may need to cancel a campus tour at short notice. Should this occur, we will contact you using the email address provided.
