Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Continuing your professional development is crucial for keeping up to date in your field in a rapidly changing world. You will be able to gain or enhance the skills you need to put you ahead in a competitive job market. We offer a range of non-credit CPD courses to keep you ahead of the game.
What is CPD?
Continuing Professional Development courses offer you the chance to take charge of your career development and gain the skills you need to stay up to date and get ahead in your field. Our courses range from 2 days up to 12 weeks of part-time study. Teaching can take place in person or online or sometimes a mix of both. You may study over a weekend or throughout the week depending on your chosen course.
Developing new skills and enhancing existing skills is certainly the way forward to developing a career. New doors of opportunity naturally open up

Medical and Dental Science
Our College of Medical and Dental Sciences is the biggest provider of CPD courses within the University. They offer a wide range of CPD short courses and Masters level modules as standalone courses. You will learn from experts and work alongside supportive and innovative staff in our world-leading centres.
Study something you love
As well as gaining the practical skills you need to stay up to date in your chosen field, you may wish to study a CPD course just because you enjoy the subject area. Our ‘Spring into Shakespeare’ and ‘Fall in with Shakespeare’ courses offer you the chance to develop a strong understanding of key concepts relating to the study of Shakespeare, such as language, genre, early modern playing practices, and contemporary performance. You can also use these courses as a pathway into our Masters programmes in Shakespeare studies.
Our Skills Bootcamps
Closely linked to our specialised CPD courses are our Skills Bootcamps. We offer a range of flexible Skills Bootcamps that allow you to gain skills for life alongside your existing commitments. Whether you want to climb the career ladder or change professions entirely, bootcamps are an excellent way to gain the latest technical and digital skills. Some of our Skills Bootcamps are free to study, allowing you to upskill to progress your career.
