This degree programme is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) comprising of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers, Institute of Highway Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation and the Permanent Way Institution on behalf of the Engineering Council, as meeting the academic requirement for Further Learning for registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng).

This course consists of 180 credits distributed over 1 year for the full time course. Two thirds of the content (120 credits) consists of taught modules. One third of the content (60 credits) is the individual research project, which is carried out in the summer.
In term one you'll develop a firm base of general knowledge and techniques for further specialised management study. Delivered by leading academics in Birmingham Business School, the management content is based on real-world examples, drawing on the expertise and reputation of the Business School to deliver a high quality experience.

Jointly delivered by the School of Engineering and Birmingham Business School, you'll be taught through a combination of lectures, tutorials and seminars before undertaking a research project in the summer term. You can study full time or choose the part time option suitable for UK based road professionals who are in employment.
This programme is a 1 year full-time ( up to 3 years part-time) taught masters degree (180 credits) consisting of 120 credits of taught modules and a 60 credit research project.

To gain a place at Birmingham you will need to meet our general entry requirements, as well as those specific to your course. Your application will be reviewed by the course’s Admissions Tutor, who will decide whether your application should receive an offer.
In Engineering, Physical Sciences, Maths or Technology based subjects from a recognised institution.
Applicants with a 2:2 Honours Degree in the above disciplines alongside relevant work experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
If you are an international student, you will need to demonstrate you have a suitable level of English proficiency, usually through the form of an IELTS or equivalent qualification.
