For me the MBA Executive programme delivers on four levels: value for money, flexibility, focus and the opportunity to develop a strong network of business contacts and friends. The programme fitted perfectly with my busy work and family life.
Course Structure
Our two-year Executive MBA course (extendable up to four years) is delivered via a combination of online materials and sessions plus residential long weekends, with the option to complete up to three elective modules from our Dubai, Singapore and Online MBA programmes.

Course delivery
Our Executive MBA includes a wide variety of learning and teaching:
- Online learning - learn online at your own pace via various resources and materials
- Residential weekends – meet other students on your cohort, network and engage in professional development opportunities
- Purposeful Leader module – a reflective and developmental opportunity allowing students to explore their leadership and career aspirations in relation to their values
- Projects - deliver either a Company Project, Entrepreneurial Project or a Research Project
Module information
The Birmingham MBA totals 180 credits and includes nine core modules worth 100 credits, a project worth 40 credits, and a mix of elective modules worth 40 credits.
The modules listed for this programme are regularly reviewed to ensure they are up-to-date and informed by the latest research and teaching methods.
Any optional module information listed for this programme is intended to be indicative, and the availability of optional modules may vary from year to year. Where a module is no longer available, we will let you know as soon as we can and help you to make other choices.
You will complete nine core modules, including the Purposeful Leader module. You can then choose to complete a mix of elective modules or a specialism, both of which can include one global immersive module.
The three specialisms are:

- Innovation and Business Transformation

You must choose an additional 40 credits in total. When choosing elective modules, you can choose a specialism which requires a specific combination of elective modules.
You must choose one of the following modules for your MBA project:

Entry requirements
To gain a place at Birmingham you will need to meet our general entry requirements, as well as those specific to your course. Your application will be reviewed by the course’s Admissions Tutor, who will decide whether your application should receive an offer.

You must have a minimum of three years' professional experience. Usually we expect Birmingham MBA candidates to have a minimum of five years professional experience. You must demonstrate career progression and managerial responsibilities, which could include people management, budget management or project management
IELTS 6.5 (with no less than 6.0 in any band); TOEFL IBT 88 (21 in Reading, 20 in Listening, 22 in Speaking and 21 in Writing); Pearson Academic Test of English 59 (in all four skills)
Please note we will also consider candidates without a first degree or professional qualification but with at least ten years’ work experience including significant managerial responsibility.

Postgraduate Masters Loan
To help with the cost of studies, this loan is available to all UK students. You can use this loan towards fees, maintenance or other costs at your own discretion. It’s available for all full-time, part-time and distance learning Masters programmes, as long as you don’t already have a Masters qualification (or equivalent).If you’re a student from Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can apply for Masters loans from your country’s government.

We want to welcome the brightest talent to our postgraduate community. That’s why our Birmingham Masters Scholarships award £3,000 to more than 300 students each year.

- Evidence of your academic and/or professional qualifications
- An up-to-date copy of your resume or CVOne academic reference, and one work related reference (if you don't have an academic reference, we will accept two work references)
- Your personal statement, including why you wish to apply to the MBA course, why you have chosen to apply to the Birmingham MBA in particular, highlights of your career to date, examples of managerial responsibility, and your career aspirations for the future (maximum 2 pages)
