Course structure

This course will run over 12 months in a full-time-mode.

• Through our Business Analytics Capstone Project, you will have the opportunity to gain relevant work experience through analysing a set of data and delivering your findings.
• Tailor the programme towards your interests with the Business Analytics micro-courses.
• Develop the ability to analyse data sets and communicate these insights - a skill that is highly in demand by companies across the globe.
• Birmingham has the largest city economy outside of London with key links to global companies, giving you the opportunity to network with a variety of different organisations.

You have the opportunity to take part in the award-winning Future Leaders Certificate. This extra-curricular programme gives you the chance to work on an exciting virtual live project set by a multi-national company. The Future Leaders Certificate enables you to better understand the impact technology is having on the business world and the implications for your own career.

• Taught modules – these include lectures, seminars, tutorials project and case analysis.
• Assessments - these will include essays and reports, along with group assessments, plus presentations and case analysis.
• Capstone Project - Work in a team to develop a working solution to a live analytics problem.

Applicants must also have achieved a mark equivalent to a 2:2 at undergraduate level in Mathematics or Mathematics related modules such as Business Mathematics, Statistics or similar. If necessary we will assess the academic transcript for performance in Mathematics and Mathematics related modules.

Alternatively A minimum of GCE A-Level grade B (or overseas equivalent) in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics or Statistics may be considered to meet the quantitative requirement.

Applicants who demonstrate being able to exceed the minimum entry requirements will be given preference.

English language requirements

If you are an international student, you will need to demonstrate you have a suitable level of English proficiency, usually through the form of an IELTS or equivalent qualification.

For this course we require IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band, which is equivalent to:

• TOEFL: 88 overall with no less than 21 in Reading, 20 Listening, 22 Speaking and 21 in Writing
• Pearson Test of English (PTE): Academic 67 with no less than 64 in all four skills
• Cambridge English: C1 Advanced - minimum overall score of 176, with no less than 169 in any component
• LanguageCert ESOL SELT (UKVI): B2 'Communicator' with no less than 33 in each skill

English Presessional Programmes

Improve your knowledge of spoken and written English in preparation for studying at Birmingham with our pre-sessional English courses. If you have a conditional offer, you can take one of these courses as an alternative to retaking IELTS or other similar qualifications.

Postgraduate Masters Loan

To help with the cost of studies, this loan is available to all UK students. You can use this loan towards fees, maintenance or other costs at your own discretion. It’s available for all full-time, part-time and distance learning Masters programmes, as long as you don’t already have a Masters qualification (or equivalent).If you’re a student from Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can apply for Masters loans from your country’s government.
