Meet Leo
BA in English and Film
How did you choose your degree subject?
I always wanted to do something in the creative arts and filmmaking seemed best for me. I made a short film in 6th form and knew it was something I wanted to pursue.
Best module?
So far it has to be Documentary Filmmaking as I got to push my editing skills to their limits, as well as explore topics that I'm very passionate about.
What's the most underrated spot in Birmingham?
Definitely the pool and snooker bar. Cheapest pool tables in Birmingham and very good atmosphere!
What's one piece of advice you can share for incoming students?
Don't assume everyone knows what they're doing. Most of us are in the same exact boat and are more than willing to help others if we can.
Don't compare your uni experience or desires to someone else's. Someone may really want to be a committee member of 50 different societies and FILL their timetable, while someone else may want to experience having more free time or the ability to just relax from the stress of previous busy school timetables. Both of those people can come away from university feeling fulfilled, accomplished, and most of all; happy. University isn't just what you make of it; it's what you want out of it.
