Meet Ester
BA in Philosophy, Religion and Ethics
I am currently looking for opportunities to move forward in my career. I want to pursue a career in international politics, but finishing my degree has been my main focus up until now. My next steps will involve moving towards employment opportunities such as internships.
How did your time at Birmingham help you to get to where you are today?
My time at the University of Birmingham has helped me immensely to get to where I am today. On a personal level, I have grown and developed skills that have helped me be more well-rounded, culturally sound, and sensitive.
I’ve been able to learn from work experience opportunities which have helped me see the path which I want to take in my future career.
On an academic level, I have learnt so much more than I ever expected, and have had the opportunity to make my own mind up and create my own narrative for philosophy, religion and ethics, through the exploration of both theory and practice.
What are you most proud of from your time at Birmingham?
That I really engaged in all the opportunities that were given to me! There are so many cool ways to get involved at the University of Birmingham, truly something for everyone.
What's one piece of advice you can share for incoming students?
Don't forget to always take care of yourself and put yourself first! It can be hard to remember that there will always be more opportunities for everything, but nothing is more important than looking after yourself.
Where do you hope to see yourself in a year's time?
I hope to have gotten an internship in an international political institution like the UN or Religions for Peace and be developing my future career through this!
