Meet Emma
I chose the University of Birmingham for a plethora of reasons, but the main reason was the English Literature course's relevancy to my personal interests (there's a chance to explore Gothic literature, Fantasy and fandom, and even Film Studies).
Another reason was the amazing location - there are plenty of music venues in Birmingham, where I can listen to or perform live music in.
My favourite aspect of the English Literature course so far has been the open-minded nature of discussions in seminars. It's really interesting seeing how contrasting interpretations of texts can build on one another and challenge your way of thinking.
I believe my degree will help me achieve my career and personal development goals through both advancing my knowledge of literature (which is necessary for my desired pursuit of writing a book series in the future) and by allowing a space for my passions to thrive.
