Dr Galane J Luo is a Lecturer in the School of Mathematics, University of Birmingham. He worked as a Research and then Teaching Fellow in the same School from 2018 to 2023 and works in the Mathematical Biology and Healthcare group on various research projects.

Biography

Dr Luo obtained his PhD in Mathematical Sciences from Durham University in 2018, for his thesis, 'Polaron Dynamics in the Alpha Helix: Models of Electron Transport in Hydrogen-Bonded Polypeptides'. He became a Fellow of The Higher Education Academy while working on his PhD. From October 2018 to September 2021, Dr Luo worked as a Research Fellow in the School of Mathematics, University of Birmingham, then as a Teaching Fellow. He became a Lecturer in 2023.

Research Activity

Dr Luo's research interests include: modelling the cellular mechanics that underpin plant morphogenesis; agent-based modelling of consensus formation with applications in sociology, ecology and automation; and electrodynamics in protein macromolecules.
