Dr Anne is a lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences, School of Pure and applied sciences, University of Embu, Kenya. She was awarded Newton International Fellow by the British Academy in 2023. Her research focuses on the implications of project requirements of the United Kingdom's voluntary carbon offset schemes on the sustainability of carbon projects.

Her research interests include; natural resources governance, co-management of forest resources, and forest policy and laws. Anne, with colleagues, has carried out research work in the following area: environmental justice in carbon offset projects; community-based monitoring of deforestation using real-time technology in Kenya; achieving multi-level, integrated governance of coastal ecosystems in Kenya; forest policies and their implications on mangrove forests

Research interests Anne has interest in natural resource governance, climate change mitigation, carbon offset projects, community capacity building, environmental justice, resource conservation. Current projects Critical review of the implications of project requirements of U.K. voluntary carbon offset schemes

i. 'A thousand flowers will bloom' grant for USAWA project in collaboration with Professor Huxham, M. Edinburgh Napier University, conducted in Kwale County, Kenya. October 2021.

ii. Forest 2020 project on Forest monitoring and governance in Kwale Kenya, in collaboration with Professor Upton, C. and others, funded through Ecometrica, UK. September 2019-February 2020.

iii. Vice Chancellor's Research Grant Award. Research on tourism impacts on the integrity of seagrass bed and community livelihood in Diani Beach Area of Kwale County, Kenya. June 2019.
