Mani Entezami is a research fellow at the Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education (BCRRE).

Mani has more than 12 years’ experience in research and engineering, including 8 years in condition monitoring, system modelling and signal processing.

Mani’s PhD work was based on novel condition monitoring techniques for wind turbine brake systems.

He is currently working on trackside and on-board monitoring system design for rolling stock and infrastructure.

Mani has published high quality papers and has won several awards at conferences.

Qualifications

Biography

Mani graduated in 2003 with a BSc in Computer Hardware Engineering. In the same year he started working in industry as a firmware engineer. He worked in an industrial R&D department for 6 years. Condition monitoring and embedded system design were his main objectives such as design and development of a Smart Power Analyser.

In 2008 he started a Master’s degree in Embedded systems at the University of Birmingham, graduating in 2009. He followed this with a PhD in Condition Monitoring Systems for Wind Turbines at the Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education (BCRRE). Mani was awarded the PhD in 2013.

Since, Mani been working as a Research Fellow at the BCRRE. Mani is involved in several condition monitoring projects, including developing intelligent systems for monitoring train axlebox bearings and gearboxes using vibration and acoustic signals. He has also been working on projects using high speed microcontrollers and FPGA based embedded systems for data logging and real-time signal analysis.

In addition, Mani provides academic support to PhD candidates within the centre.

Teaching
