Nicki Newman is a Professor of Business Education and the Director of Taught Postgraduate Programmes.
Before joining Birmingham Business School in 2018, Nicki worked at Sheffield University Management School (2003 – 2018) initially as a part time tutor whilst completing her PhD and later as a University and Senior University Teacher in Marketing. She has held the roles of Undergraduate Director for Teaching Quality and Enhancement and the Divisional Director for Teaching Quality (Marketing, International Business, Entrepreneurship and Strategy Division).
In addition to the University of Sheffield, Nicki has taught at Hallam University, Sheffield University International College and Oxford School of Marketing. She has taught a range of marketing subjects including introduction to marketing, integrated marketing communications, marketing channels and international marketing on undergraduate, postgraduate and professional programmes.
Nicki has researched in the area of food marketing to children for her PhD and more recently her research has focused on how technology can be used to improve the student learning experience. She has worked on projects with Pearson piloting their MyMarketing Experience simulation game and REVEL (an interactive e-book). She has delivered workshops and conference presentations on electronic marketing and feedback, using simulations in teaching and the use of flipped teaching.
Nicki is currently studying for a MEd in Higher Education.
