Malcolm Price is an Associate Professor of Biostatistics in the Biostatistics, Evidence Synthesis and Modelling (BESTEAM), and Health Informatics research groups in the Institute of Applied Health Research.  He is also a member of the World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for Global Women’s Health.

Malcolm trained as a medical statistician and has extensive experience of collaborating on projects in a broad range of clinical areas. He has a keen interest in tackling challenging and important applications in medical statistics, epidemiology and decision modelling that require development of new methodology.

Malcom has published over 100 research papers in the fields of statistics, epidemiology, health economics, psychology, and clinical sciences. He has been either principal or co-investigator on over a dozen grants from funders such as the National Institute of Health Research, (NIHR) and the Medical Research Council (MRC). He was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship by the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

Malcolm has presented his work at numerous academic conferences to audiences including statisticians, health economists, epidemiologists, clinicians and policy makers. He has attended policy meetings by invitation for organisations, such as the World Health Organisation, the US Centres for Disease Control and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control.

Malcolm teaches on several courses in the Masters of Public Health (MPH) program:

  • Epidemiology, Statistics and Research Methods (ESRM)
  • Practical Epidemiology and Statistics (PEAS)
  • Epidemiology Statistics and Research Methods Advanced Statistics
  • Systematic reviews and evidence synthesis

Malcolm is the statistics module lead for ESRM, module lead for Advanced statistics and deputy module lead for PEAS.
