Weds 25 September: Arrival / optional visit to BIFoR-FACE / informal evening get-together (own expense)
Thu 26 September: Welcome / Scientific Sessions / Workshop Dinner (sponsored)
Fri 27 September: Scientific Sessions (meeting close after lunch, 2pm).
Science Themes for the 2019 Workshop are:
- General Atmospheric Chemistry (including laboratory, field, chamber and model work)
- Biosphere-Atmosphere interactions (including responses to environmental change)
- Multiphase Processes (including chemical interactions in SOA formation, and PM evolution)
- Atmospheric chemistry research to inform regional and national air quality policy
A complete science programme will be available shortly.
Optional Visit: BIFoR-FACE
The Birmingham Institute of Forest Research (BIFoR) Free-Air Carbon Enrichment Facility (FACE), at Mill Haft, Staffordshire, is a unique large-scale ecosystem manipulation experiment, in which multiple stands of a mature oak woodland are exposed to elevated atmospheric CO2 levels to mimic concentrations anticipated for 2050, and the associated forest system responses – ranging from carbon storage and nutrient sensitivity, through to ecological changes – are studied.
BIFoR-FACE is about 1 hour from the University campus by minibus; approximate timings are 12.30pm (depart University campus, from the Edgbaston Park Hotel) / 5pm (return to University). There is no cost for this visit.
Please indicate on the meeting registration form if you would like to join the BIFoR-FACE visit.
