Farrukh gained a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Sciences and Technology. He went on to study Mechanical Engineering Design at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) and obtained an MSc with distinction.
Farrukh was awarded an Engineering and Physical science (EPS) scholarship to obtain a PhD at the University of Manchester. Farrukh undertook research at the Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering department of the University and was awarded a PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
Farrukh worked at a global consultancy firm based in Manchester before moving to the UAE, where he started work as a Research Associate in the Mechanical Engineering department of the Petroleum Institute.
He later joined the University of Birmingham at its Dubai campus as an Assistant Professor and led the establishment of the Mechanical Engineering programmes in Dubai. Farrukh was promoted to Associate professor and is working as the Programme Director.
