The 3D construction “history” and rendered images of the Anne, a Royal Navy 70-gun third rate ship of the line, launched in 1678 and lost on Pett Level Beach in July 1690 during the Battle of Beachy Head, are now available to view on YouTube:
This exercise was the result of an excellent summer project which saw the virtual ship being developed by our two French intern students from Arts et Métiers, ParisTech, Cécile Thevenin and Emilien Bonhomme, and used in a world-first Augmented Reality visualisation of the VR model from the HIT Team’s hexacopter, flown over the wreck site by PhD student Chris Bibb and supported by fellow student Vish Shingari. The results of this project will be presented, together with live demonstrations, to the villagers and members of the public at the new Pett Level Beach Club on 12 December and at the 2015 International Shipwreck Conference, to be held on 07 February at the University of Plymouth.
