Dr Fei Xie’s research area spans three areas, corpus linguistics, second language teaching and learning, and community safety. Her teaching covers second language learning.

Biography

Dr Xie commenced her PhD in English Language and Linguistics at the University of Birmingham in 2019. Since 2023, she has served as a Research Associate and Research Fellow on multiple projects, focusing on corpus linguistics, cognitive linguistics and community safety issues. Through these roles, she has contributed to interdisciplinary research that bridges language analysis and real-world applications.

Teaching

She teaches second language learning in MSc TESOL programme

Research

Dr Xie’s research focuses on applying corpus linguistics (particularly learner corpus research) in the second language teaching/learning and materials development. Also, she interested in using corpus linguistics to analyse community safety issues.
