Sally joined the university as a teacher educator in 2013 and held the position of Lecturer in Secondary English Initial Teacher Education, specifically teaching on the PGDipEd (QTS) Secondary English course in the School of Education from 2013-2022. She is currently an Associate Professor in Teacher Education and Development, and Sally teaches and supervises on the MSC TESOL programme. Sally holds the role of Collaborative Provisions Officer overseeing quality assurance for a range of ITE partners whose programmes are validated by the University of Birmingham.
With a background in PE and English teaching in secondary education, Sally has over 20 years’ experience in the state sector. She held a number of teaching and leadership posts in Birmingham and Solihull schools including the role of Senior Mentor. Sally has a higher degree in Educational Studies which focused on pedagogical approaches to teaching grammar and she is a Senior Fellow of the HEA.
