A UK Qualified Teacher, Executive Coach and Mentor, Sanam has been working within the Middle East for over 12 years. With extensive knowledge and 20 years of teaching and leadership experience working within the UK and UAE Education sectors, Sanam brings a wealth of experience to her role as School Partnerships Strategies Manager to the University of Birmingham, Dubai.
As the first recruit from the UAE, she has been instrumental in establishing the School of Education’s strategic aims for learning and teaching through strategic planning, development and management of the school’s complex and diverse teacher education programmes and related external partnerships. Sanam is delighted to be a part of a world class institution and building upon its ongoing global success.
At a strategic level, she works with school leaders, school group CEO’s and their board of Governors to establish strategic partnerships with a view to develop Initial Teacher Education and Continued Professional Development programmes for teaching professionals in the UAE. Being a part of the team of pioneers at the Dubai campus is a real privilege, especially as this will allow students from the region to be a part of a Higher Educational Institution that represents Quality, Outstanding Academic Achievement, as well as extensive internationally renowned Research collaborations.
With a deep passion and personal interest in developing outstanding Learning and Teaching, Sanam is a great advocate for Quality and Research Led initial teacher training, especially as this is a key priority for the UAE government, in line with the Vision 2020. The UAE Schools Partnership Strategies Manager role, allows the opportunity to use her extensive knowledge of the UAE Schools market in developing key partner links on behalf of the UOB, School of Education.
Sanam is also a member of the University’s Coaching Academy and leads on the Coaching programme at the Dubai campus. Coaching is one of the most powerful strategies to leverage unlocking an individual’s potential and maximising performance. With a passion for empowering others through self-reflection and self-belief, she adopts a solution focused, non-directive approach when Coaching. Maintaining professionalism, integrity and transparency, it is imperative that coaching provides a safe space within which to explore solutions to challenges. Sanam is passionate about supporting the professional development and growth of others, ensuring that they are able to flourish and develop their own purpose.
Sanam’s current research interest is exploring ‘Teacher Beliefs’ and the impact these can have on pre service and experienced teachers. She is currently completing her research with the University of Oxford, UK.
