PGCE (QTS)

Our PGCE (QTS) courses, are delivered in partnerships with selected schools in the region. The programme combines all the practical advantages of school-based work with the experience and expertise of a team of university staff who specialise in initial teacher training. On satisfactory completion of their teacher training course and a successful induction year in school, student teachers may return to complete a 80-credit dissertation part-time and gain an MA in Teaching Studies.

University of Birmingham Dubai  

The School of Education offers PGCE teacher training courses in Primary at its campus in Dubai. It also offers the international PGCEi qualification. The teacher training programmes are based on both the UK and UAE standards. School-based experiences are a central part of this programme which also features a range of professional courses to help you plan, teach, and develop classroom skills. 

Educational Leadership

Educational Leadership Level 7 Apprenticeship

The part-time Educational Leadership apprenticeship programme provides a distinctive, evidence-focused programme which builds on the National Professional Qualifications and develops capacity for leadership and expert practice in schools. 

MA Educational Leadership and Management

The full-time MA Educational Leadership programme is designed for those aiming to make a difference in schools through leadership that is focused on learning and school improvement.  

Doctoral research training

There are two taught doctoral programmes within the school which comprise of taught modules and a research thesis as well as the cross college Integrated Study (Social Sciences) PhD. Alternatively you can undertake a research degree by thesis. All offer part-time study as an option.

The University school and Sixth Form is located near to the university. It is one of the first "University Training Schools" in the country offering a unique enhancement to activity within the School of Education.
