Dr. Lu is Chairman of the Board, Air Liquide China Holding Co. Ltd. and  Vice Chairman of China Funds of Siguler Guff & Company.

Previously, Dr. Lu was the Deputy President and Chief Investment Officer of China Jianyin Investment Co. Ltd. and managing director of Climate Change Capital. Besides, he has extensive experiences in industrial investment and operations Dr. Lu had been executive vice president of Alstom (China) Investment Co., Ltd., and vice president of Ford Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd., respectively introducing the first high speed train to China and built Ford Motor’s first joint venture in Chongqing of China. He was also director for Caterpillar China and assistant President of Schindler China. He is Adjunct Professor in Beijing Jiaotong University, and Fellow of Judge Business School of Cambridge University.

Biography

Dr. Lu is the Chairman of the Board, Air Liquide China. and Vice Chairman of China Funds, Siguler Guff.

Since Sept. 2012, Dr. Lu had been the Vice Chairman of China Funds of Siguler Guff & Company. In this capacity, he has facilitated Siguler Guff’s development in China in terms of strategies, investments and operations by working with Chinese governments at central and local levels, key financial institutions and industries. Dr. Lu was the advisory board member of leading Private Equity firms, including Hony Capital, New Horizons, CITIC PE, CICC PE, and Boyu Capital.

From September 2010 to August 2012, Dr. Lu was the Deputy President and Chief Investment Officer of China Jianyin Investment Limited, the domestic investment arm of the China Investment Corporation (China’s National Sovereign Wealth Fund). In this capacity, he led investments in Chinese leading PE funds as LP, two fund management companies, two commercial banks, an insurance company and three manufacturing companies in cable, air traffic control systems and automobile sectors.

In October 2006, Dr. Lu founded the China office of the Climate Change Capital Group (CCC) as Managing Director in charge of Greater China operations. He was the member of the Investment Committee of two global funds C4F2 and C4MA, of which over US$ 600 million was deployed in sectors like wind power, hydro power, projects of landfill power, CMM, and energy efficiency in steel/cement/chemical sectors through the CDM mechanism in China.

From 2003 to 2006, Dr. Lu was executive vice president of Alstom (China) Investment Co., Ltd. in charge of strategy and corporate development including government relations, business development and industrial partnerships.  In this capacity, he led or supported Alstom’s technology transfer, investment, and M&A activities in China in various fields.  During this period, he introduced the French TGV to China, as the first high speed train in China. He set up and initiated the acquisition of the Wuhan Boiler Group.

Between 2001 and 2003, he served as vice president of Ford Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd., in charge of government affairs and business development. He participated in the development of the Ford’s Asia-Pacific strategy and led its strategy process in China. He helped establish Ford's first sedan joint venture: China-Chang’an Ford. He also took part in the restructuring of the Jiangling Motors Corporation. He promoted and helped develop Ford Motor’s auto finance business by working with government agencies like PBOC (Chinese central bank), Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Commerce.

From 1997 to 2001, Yuebing Lu was chief representative for Caterpillar in China. In this capacity, he helped Caterpillar establish several joint ventures and a wholly foreign-owned enterprise producing excavator, compactor.

Between 1995 and 1997, he was assistant president of Schindler Elevator (China) Co., Ltd. and head of the planning department, where he was responsible for the strategic and market plan of the company in China. He worked with Ministry of Construction to introduce the VVVF elevator and escalator to Chinese market.

Between 1993 and 1994, Dr. Lu was a visiting scholar in Judge Business School at Cambridge University, where he studied foreign direct investment in China and Sino-foreign joint venture management with Prof. John Child. From 1989 to 1993, Dr. Lu was research fellow in the Development Research Center of the State Council (the Chinese Central government’s think-tank) focusing on industrial policies and foreign direct investment policy.
