Siti Farida joined Birmingham Business School as an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) of Finance in September 2021. She earned her PhD in Finance and Econometrics from Warwick Business School, University of Warwick, in November 2021.
Her research primarily focuses on empirical corporate finance, particularly mergers and acquisitions (M&As), initial public offerings (IPOs), and the role of innovation in corporate finance. She investigates the factors driving acquisitions by public firms and the significance of target ownership structure in acquisition decisions. Specifically, her work contributes to the ongoing debate on why acquiring public targets generates lower shareholder value compared to private targets. She also explores the long-term innovation outcomes for acquirers based on whether they acquire public or private firms. Her recent research on IPOs examines the relationship between corporate growth strategies, product life cycles, and innovation outcomes in newly listed firms.
At Birmingham Business School, Siti teaches Special Topics in Finance (BSc), International Economics & Financial Decision Making (BSc), and Corporate Finance (MBA).
