Fahad Ibrahim is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University of Birmingham and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). His primary research interests include consumer research, digital marketing, service marketing, and strategic marketing.

His article, ‘Tourism and troubles: Effects of security threats on the global travel and tourism industry performance’, was recognised by the Editorial Board of the Journal of Travel Research as the Best Article of 2024. This prestigious award celebrates outstanding contributions to travel and tourism research, honouring articles and reviewers who have demonstrated exceptional excellence and dedication in advancing the field.

Biography

Dr. Fahad Ibrahim is an Assistant Professor in Marketing at Birmingham Business School. Before joining Birmingham, he served as a Lecturer in Marketing at the School of Management, Swansea University (2019-2021) and as a Teaching Fellow at Birmingham Business School (2018-2019). 

Fahad completed his PhD in Management at the University of Hull in 2019, where he was awarded the University Studentship Award. He also holds an MSc in Marketing Management (2010) from the same institution and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Marketing and International Marketing from North South University, Bangladesh (2009). Additionally, he is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and holds a certificate in Postgraduate Research Training. 

His research interests stem from his deep passion for marketing, particularly focusing on consumer research, service marketing, strategic marketing, innovation, and digital, big data, & AI marketing. His wider interests also encompass topics such as management commitment and leadership and employee relationships and behaviour, areas that significantly influence marketing practice. He likes using quantitative and qualitative methods to address different research problems. 

He has published in renowned academic journals, including the Journal of Travel Research (ABS 4), Journal of Business Research (ABS 3), International Marketing Review (ABS 3), and Technological Forecasting and Social Change (ABS 3). Fahad was recently honoured with the prestigious Journal of Travel Research Charles R. Goeldner Article of Excellence Award for 2024. In addition, he is actively working on several papers at different stages of development. Fahad also contributes as an ad hoc reviewer for several academic journals and has successfully supervised a PhD student to completion. He welcomes PhD supervision inquiries from prospective students. 

Alongside his work in academia, Fahad has industry experience, having worked as a Strategy Development Manager in the advertising sector. He has managed campaigns for notable brands, including Lafarge Holcim Cement, Chevron, Coca-Cola, Pan Pacific Hotel, USAID, Swisscontact, and ActionAid in Bangladesh. His team also developed an internal strategic marketing campaign for an international brand, which was adopted across 64 countries globally.
