What is your current role?
My typical day involves supporting Cardiac Catheter Labs around the country with implanting pacemakers, defibrillators and cardiac resynchronisation devices. My role is to optimise the therapy for that individual patient as well as supporting the consultant on the kit needed to perform the procedure.
My favourite part about my job is that no day is the same. I get to interact with a variety of different healthcare professionals from consultant cardiologists to nurses and radiographers. I get a great amount of job satisfaction from the impact that my work can have on patients’ lives.
How has your Biomedical Science degree helped you in your current role?
The Biomedical Science Programme enabled me to have a broad knowledge of many types of physiology and anatomy. I was also able to undertake the Abbott Medical internship between my second and third year of the course.
