Our programmes are delivered by academics and industrialists to blend theory with practice and are producing the next generation of system-thinking railway engineers and professionals who will be at the forefront of transforming what railways offer in the future.
With a wide range of study opportunities, you can choose from the established Railway Systems Engineering and Integration Masters programme to more specialised study opportunities in Safety & Control and choose one of this programme's three pathways.
Research study can be taken to Master of Research (MRes) and PhD levels: MRes takes one year to complete full-time or two years part-time and study includes taught modules which underpin an 8-month research project. Topics range from specialist railway-related engineering, applied electrical, electronic, civil and materials engineering and systems engineering through to international and local railway business, climate change and human factors. All programmes can be studied full-time, part-time (for UK-based students) and via attendance-based distance learning (where you attend only for teaching weeks). Split-site PhD study is also available if you have access to academic support locally.
