Our research encompasses outstanding activity both in and across practice-based (composition, performance) and scholarly (musicology, ethnomusicology, music psychology) areas, grouped under the themes of Music in Contemporary and Historical Cultures.
Our research streams
87% of our research has been judged ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ in the national Research Excellence Framework exercise, which assessed research publications and the public impact of research carried out in all universities in the UK, 2015-2021.
