Building a Sustainable Future

Understanding and adapting how we use energy, move around, and use land and other resources is essential for securing our future on this planet.

The key to developing this understanding lies in the enormous quantities of data generated by our daily activities such as financial transactions, instant messaging, telephone and video calls, “smart” infrastructure such as electricity meters, and, of course, social media. By combining this data with models of interventions and active knowledge of both the built and natural environment, we can assess the effect of our behaviour on the world and understand how to effect meaningful positive change.
