We have a growing portfolio of advanced therapy studies, in both haematological and solid cancers. Alongside the University of Oxford, the University of Birmingham has recently been awarded NIHR Blood and Transplant Research Unit (BTRU) in Precision Cellular Therapeutics status. The BTRU will scale-up cellular therapy technologies, in collaboration with NHS Blood and Transplant, for trial delivery within the ECMC network. Dr Francesca Kinsella is also leading an Advanced Therapies Academy within the BTRU. Both initiatives aim to address significant gaps in knowledge and capacity in the NHS and industry, nurturing the next generation of UK leaders in the ATMPs field.

Theme Lead: Dr Francesca Kinsella, an NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Experimental Haematology, with research interests in Graft Versus Host Disease and cellular therapies.
